Privacy policy
The short version first, then the detail. Our apps collect no personal data.
The short version
- The apps collect no personal data. No accounts, no ads and no analytics inside the apps.
- BASIC apps work offline. The one exception is Veil, which connects only to
web.whatsapp.com. - This website uses privacy-friendly analytics that set no cookies.
- If you send us a form (the waitlist or a message), we keep only what you submit, to reply to you or to tell you when ADVANCED opens.
Who we are
KHBROS is an independent software maker run by two co-founders, Mohammad Abu Khalifa and Ali Abu Khalifa. You can reach us at support@khbros.app. [Company name and licence details to be added once our UAE business licence is in place.]
The apps
Here is what each app does with the internet and with your data.
| App | Connects to the internet? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Veil (Mac, Android) | Yes, to web.whatsapp.com only | The official WhatsApp Web page loads inside the app. WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy apply to that connection. Veil has no analytics, no update checks and no third-party code, and nothing is sent to KHBROS. Its blur works on your screen only. |
| Screen Veil (Mac, Android) | No | It never records or saves your screen and sends nothing anywhere. The Mac app needs no permissions; the Android app has no internet permission. |
| KhCal | BASIC: no. ADVANCED: yes | KhCal BASIC makes no network connections and asks for no permissions. KhCal ADVANCED (when released) fetches currency exchange rates, cached for offline use, and sends text you choose to translate to a translation service. [Services to be named before ADVANCED launches.] Notes and history stay in a private database on your device. |
| PDF to Office | No | PDFs are converted on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. |
| KBackup | No | KBackup copies files from your folders into the OneDrive folder on your Mac. It does not send your files to KHBROS. OneDrive's own syncing is governed by Microsoft's terms. |
| KPT add-ins for PowerPoint | BASIC: no. ADVANCED Translate: yes | KPT Style, KPT, KPT Links and KPT Pen Lab BASIC make no network connections. KPT Pen Lab asks for the macOS Accessibility and Automation permissions so its drawing layer can follow PowerPoint and place shapes; it does not read your files. KPT ADVANCED's Translate tool (when released) sends the text you select to a translation service. |
| KPT Retouch, Slide PRESS | Not released yet | KPT Retouch is designed to run entirely on your Mac. We will update this page before either app is released. |
This website
- No cookies, no ads, no third-party trackers. The site loads everything from khbros.app. It uses no external fonts, scripts or CDNs.
- Analytics. We use privacy-friendly analytics that set no cookies and do not follow you across other sites. They count visits in aggregate, such as which pages are read. [Provider to be confirmed before launch.]
- Forms. The waitlist stores your email, an optional name, the app you chose and the page you were on. The contact form stores your name, email, topic, app and message. We use this only to reply to you or to tell you when ADVANCED or support options open. We do not sell it or share it for marketing.
- If the form cannot reach our server, the site offers a prefilled email to support@khbros.app instead. In that case your email provider handles the message in the usual way.
- Hosting and downloads. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, and the app downloads are served from
downloads.khbros.appby Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes ordinary connection details, such as your IP address, to deliver files and keep the service secure.
How long we keep things
Waitlist entries are kept until we have told you that ADVANCED is open, or until you ask us to delete them. Contact messages are kept for as long as we need to help you, and then deleted. [Exact retention periods to be confirmed.]
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to remove you from the waitlist, at any time. Email support@khbros.app from the address you used.
Children
Our apps and website are not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top. Because this is a draft, it will change before ADVANCED goes on sale.
